Even after all of our prayers, meditations, rituals, and initiations, many of us struggle with the notion of prolonged happiness and peace within. Surely, we all experience glimmers of happiness and peace based on our daily life's experiences. But, in the garden AND in the fire, have we truly arrived?
After coming across this
meditation I found myself asking…is one the result of the other: Does the
cultivation of inner-peace bring us happiness, or does happiness bring us inner
peace? I always preferred the word contentment, in lieu of happiness, because
happiness is temporal. It would be impossible to only experience
"happiness" due to the yin/yang nature of life. Whereas contentment
can be found in all struggles and tragedies, knowing that our trial is also
temporal, and within struggle lies the fundamental key to the unlocking ones' consciousness and healing ones' karma. And is contentment something we
realize rather than seek…"finding" it in ones Self through the fulfillment
of ones' dharma (life purpose) thus burning ones' karma? Something to think about...
Well, I am not sure if my
theories reign true but I am certainly curious about finding out. Lets dive
within!
TO BEGIN:
Sit in Easy Pose with the spine straight with chin in and chest out (Jalandhar Bandh). Rub your hands together and bring them to Prayer Pose. Inhale through the nose and chant ONG NA MO GURU DEV NAMO (I bow to the Divine Teacher within) on two breaths.

PART ONE:
Chant ONG in the long form
so that it takes roughly 10 seconds to complete. Focus on the third-eye point,
making the sound nasal of the conch. The mouth is slightly open and the breath
comes through the nostrils. Chant in this manner 5 TIMES.
Chant ONG faster so that you
are chanting one ONG every 3-5 seconds. Mouth is slightly open, and the sound
is created by opening and closing the back of the throat. Focus and vibrate the
third eyebrow point. Chant for two minutes.
NOTES:
ONG is the creative energy
of the total cosmos and consciousness of the Creator as experienced in
creation. It has the connotation of energy and activity. It creates involvement
without attachment. It generates Shakti, the generative force of life. The
sound is not OM, which is the sound for withdrawl and relaxation.

TO CLOSE:
Recite the Warrior Healers' Affirmations in Gyan Mudra (index finger and thumb pressed together while all
other fingers are straight) resting on your knees with elbows straight.
TO FINISH:
Rub your hands together, bring them to prayer pose and chant SAT NAM (Truth is my Identity) on one breath 3 times.
